Man murders himself using a CSI trick; almost gets away with it
Authorities initially suspected homicide when they found 55-year-old Thomas Hickman's body in the New Mexico desert with duct tape covering his mouth and a bullet hole through the back of his head.
But Hickman was his own murderer, having presumably come up with an ingenious method of offing himself while sprawled out on a basement couch eating stale Cheetos, farting into the frayed, stained cushions and watching CSI re-runs in the dark.
The creative suicide involved stripping lightening the gun of any unnecessary parts and tying it to a bouquet of helium-filled balloons. After pulling the trigger and sending a bullet into his own brain, the victim's grip relaxed and the gun floated away.
Unfortunately for Hickman, it didn't float far and was recovered not long after his body was found. Authorities were able to rule his death a suicide, which means his wife doesn't get the $388,000 life insurance policy she was hoping so bad for.
